WHERE IT ALL STARTED
Shelley Taylor Designs was born out of an impromptu, spur of the moment decision to visit Jaipur, India almost twenty years ago.
Armed with nothing more than a backpack, a couple of thousand dollars and a passion for jewellery Shelley set off on a trip of a lifetime, which would change the course of her career forever.
THE BEGINNING OF SOMETHING SPECIAL
With no formal training Shelley started making beautiful one off pieces of jewellery for select clients out of her moms spare bedroom.
One of these clients suggested she design an African Inspired range for one of the largest retailers in South Africa. That range quickly turned into ten ranges and now her sister company Roshell Designs employs forty amazing women from disadvantaged communities and is one of the largest suppliers of jewellery to the tourism Industry.
INTRODUCING SHELLEY TAYLOR DESIGNS
Five years ago Shelley decided to put her name on a range of jewellery and finally make her mark on the fashion industry.
She wanted to use her years of experience and utilise the incredible contacts she had made all over the world to design a range that encompasses everything she loves and admires about jewellery.
At her studio in Somerset, together with her amazingly supportive husband and a team of five talented ladies she designs, creates and hand makes jewellery that is admired around the world.

I always joke that I probably couldn’t survive without Shaheeda. She is the heartbeat of our business. She is so much more to me than an employee. She is beyond talented and creative.
Shaheeda has been with me for 20 years. She was this quiet little girl when she started working for us. From our small humble beginnings designing and making jewellery in my moms spare bedroom to where we are today.
She is literally my right hand girl. We work together on every new design. She gets as excited as I do when we design something and it turns out beautifully.
ASSEMBLER
NOXIE
Nox is amazing. She has come so far in the six years that she has worked for us. She has an infectious personality and dance moves to match. It takes a certain type of skill set to make ST jewellery and she definitely has the IT factor. Originally from the Eastern Cape she now livies in Nomzamo. We were her first employers. She amazes me every day!

WILL
Will is my husband and what an amazing husband he is! Will runs the financial side of our business. Somebody has to! Besides that he is my sounding board for everything. He reigns me in and keeps me grounded. The business would not be where it is today if it wasn’t for him.
